(KAIR)--The search for missing Atchison resident Garry Sandy is officially over.
Sandy's truck was pulled from the Missouri River Sunday night with a body inside. Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says the body was taken to a pathologist in Kansas City and was positively identified Monday as Sandy.
Wilson says the next step in the investigation will depend on the official cause of death, which should be available shortly, once the pathologist concludes his examination.
A walker in the area saw the truck in the river Sunday afternoon and notified authorities.
The 70-year-old Sandy was reported missing on December 31st, and a silver alert was issued for him on January 10th. That alert was cancelled Monday after the positive identification.
