(KMZA)--An autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death of an inmate found dead in his cell at the Marshall County Jail.
According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, 25-year-old Justin Welch, of Marysville, was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday afternoon and taken to Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville, where he was pronounced dead.
The release says he was found in his cell alone and had no cell mate. Foul play is not suspected.
Due to the fact that Welch was in custody at the time of his death, the release says the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been asked to perform a thorough review of the case.
Welch was arrested last Wednesday on misdemeanor charges.
