(KNZA)--Noon Tuesday is the filing deadline for area city offices up for election this spring.
In Hiawatha, two positions are up for election on the City Commission. They include Finance Commissioner, currently held by Bill Collins, and Commissioner of Police, currently held by Steffen Shamburg. Both have filed for re-election.
In Horton, two positions are up for election on the City Commission. They include the positions of Parks and Recreation Commissioner, currently held by Al Barton, and Police Commissioner, currently held by Jeremy Forkenbrock. As of Friday, no one had filed for either position.
In Holton, two positions are up for election on the City Commission. They include position one, currently held by Bob Dieckmann, and position 5, currently held by Hal Cochren. Both have filed for re-election.
In Fairview, two council positions and the position of mayor are up for election.
The general election will be Tuesday, April 1st.
Candidates can file at their respective City Halls. Both the Hiawatha and Holton City Halls will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
