Hearing Postponed for Former Brown Co Officer
01/09/2014

Dustin Mather

(KNZA)--The preliminary hearing for a former Brown County law enforcement officer facing felony aggravated battery charges has been postponed.

The hearing for Dustin Mather, of Olathe, was continued Wednesday to March 5th.

Mather was arrested in late November on a Brown County warrant for two counts of aggravated battery.

He’s accused of intentionally causing bodily harm to the same individual on two occasions--first on February 25th, and again on March 5th of last year. The victim is identified only in court documents by the initials S.M.

The case is being prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s office at the request of the Brown County Attorney’s office due to a potential conflict of interest resulting from Mather’s previous employment.  Mather was formerly an officer with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Hiawatha Police Department and Kickapoo Police Department.

He remains free on $50,000 bond.
