(MSC News)--One-million-dollars in damages is now being sought for the family of a convicted murderer who died while serving his life sentence in a state prison in March.
Demand letters, written on behalf of the family of Roger Hollister, have been sent to the Kansas Department of Corrections, the Nemaha County Attorney's Office, the Atchison County Sheriff's Office, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and Correct Care Solutions, LLC, which takes care of medical, dental and behavioral health services for inmates.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the letters were sent through certified mail in December.
Hollister died at the age of 61 at the El Dorado Correctional Facility while serving his sentence for the 2009 murder of rural Horton resident Patricia Kimmi.
Attorney Richard Benson has allowed each letter recipient 30 days to respond.
If the claim of one-millon-dollars is not met, or denied within that time frame, a lawsuit will be filed that will make every claim allowed under the law.
Named as claimants in the letter are the estate of Roger Hollister, Hollister's widow, Rebecca, and surviving daughter Jennifer Norman.
The lettter alleges that Roger Hollister did not receive adequate health care, leading up to his death, while also alleging aggressive treatment of Rebecca Hollister by the former Atchison County Undersheriff and a retired KBI special agent when transporting her to answer to charges that were later dismissed.

Are you kidding me!?! He was a convicted murderer serving a life sentence. His family should be ashamed of themselves for asking for $ after all the pain and suffering he caused. Im sure he received better care than he deserved.
