(KAIR)--After months of waiting, the Atchison County Solid Waste Facility is fully operational. Commission Chair Jeff Schuele says they are implementing a new check in process at the facility, one that some residents may not be used to. People now have to drive over the scale to check into the facility.
Schuele adds that there is a good reason for this new check in process, one that will help the facility get organized as quickly as possible. This helps staff track the data of everything coming in, and it helps them separated waste into the appropriate containers, which helps prevent cross contamination.
Officials are asking for patience during this process as the new facility is getting started.
