(KAIR)--An Atchison man is in custody after allegedly taking part in two separate crimes last week.
The first incident took place just after 9:00 Tuesday evening when police were called to the scene of the Hilligoss Shoe Store for a report of a broken window. Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says that officers arrived on scene and conducted a thorough investigation. It was determined that the glass window had just been broken, and no entry had been made into the business.
Later that week, police responded to a burglary call at the 1300 block of South 10th in which several jars of coins were taken from the property. Both of these cases were investigated throughout the weekend.
Upon investigation, probable cause was developed to identify 27-year-old Joshua Spurlock having a connection to these two crimes. He was arrested just after midnight Monday morning and transported to the Atchison County Jail where he faces charges of criminal damage to property, burglary, and theft.
