(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission will hold a public hearing later this month to consider an application for a tax abatement on an expansion project at the CJ Foods facility in Bern.
A ten-year, sliding scale exemption is being sought for the construction on a new $1.6 million building. The building would be used to process incoming raw materials, provide frozen meat storage and a meat processing area along with additional packaging capabilities.
The company is seeking a 100 percent exemption the first year, decreasing by ten percent each year for ten years.
It’s projected that 38 jobs would be added at the Bern plant in the first year following construction and 52 jobs over ten years.
A public hearing on the tax abatement application is set for Monday, December 30th at 10 in the morning in the Commissioner’s room at the Nemaha County Courthouse.
