(KAIR)--Progress has been made concerning Atchison's water plant. According to a release from the city, the problem at the plant has been fully fixed, but officials are still urging residents to conserve water as much as possible until towers have had a chance to refill and the system is fully restored.
The entire city of Atchison, as well as Atchison County rural water district #5 and Doniphan county rural water district #3 remain under a boil advisory. The boil advisory will remain in effect for the next 24-48 hours. Officials say you should boil any drinking water for at least a minute and allow it to cool before consumption, or utilize bottled water as much as possible. You should also clean your dishes by immersing them in clean tap water with at least one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon of water for at least a minute.
If tap water looks dirty, flush the lines by letting the water run for at least a minute until the water appears clear.
