(KAIR)--The city of Atchison is moving toward a single source recycling method in order to offer residents a convenient way to have their recyclable goods collected. But, residents should not expect this new service to start anytime soon. City Manager Trey Cocking says that a resolution was passed during Monday's City Commission meeting that starts the process of bringing the city in line with the state's recycling laws, and this can take some time. Cocking says that the city has to go through a six month public outreach period, followed by a eighteen month waiting period at the conclusion of that outreach period before they can start single stream recycling.
Cocking says that this resolution is only the first step, and as of now, the clock is ticking on starting this new recycling process in the city.
