(KMZA)--A new bicycle and a bicycle helmet. That was part of the award received by Laura Edelman, a 7-year-old from Sabetha named as one of three northeast Kansas regional winners in the 2013 “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day” poster contest.
Edelman received recognition during an early Wednesday morning presentation at the Sabetha Middle School.
On top of the regional honors, young Laura was also selected as one of three statewide winners, earning her a family package from the Great Wolf Lodge Water Park along with a $50.00 QuikTrip Corporation gas card.
Joining Laura in the regional win are two others from the local area, 10-year-old Reagan de Koning, of Axtell and 11-year-old Heather Kahler, of Meriden.
They are expected to receive their awards at a future presentation.
867 poster contest entries were received from across Kansas with 18 students receiving regional honors and three earning the statewide achievement.
