Annual Auburn Council Reorganization Coming Up Monday

 (KLZA) -- The Auburn City Council will meet at 7 p-m Monday evening.  

The Council will reorganize for the next year electing a Council President.  Annual appointments will be made including a 2014 Street Superintendent.  Standing Committee appointments for Council members will be made along with appointments and reappointments to the Auburn Housing Authority, Parks and Pool Committee and City Recreation Board. 

In other business items on the agenda Council members will discuss the health insurance plan for city employees;  review Relay 4 Life requests for a parade route on April 5th;  and discuss a proposed settlement with Ericksen Construction on the BPW water plant project.

The Auburn Council will also discuss a proposal for development of a master plan for a recreational trail for the City through the UNL Community and Regional Planning Graduate Program.  

Storm sewer improvement work on 9th Street as proposed by JEO Consulting will be reviewed.  A proposed ordinance amending the City Code concerning fire pit use restrictions will be discusses as will an amendment to report delinquent sewer and water accounts to the Board of Public Works for filing liens against real property. 

An ordinance that would establish regulations and restrictions regarding fire hydrant clearance from obstructions and all obstacles and setting a penalty will be reviewed and the city employee holidays for 2014 will be discussed.
