(KLZA)-- The latest Nebraska unemployment report indicates declining unemployment in Southeast Nebraska as well as statewide for the month of October.
The State Department of Labor released two months of employment data last week. In September unemployment dipped one tenth of a percent from August. The 3.9 percent rate in October was down two tenths.
The six counties in extreme Southeast Nebraska all showed lower unemployment numbers for October. The lowest unemployment rate in the area was Pawnee County where the 2.8 percent rate was down 6-tenths of a percent.
Nemaha County had the biggest dip in unemployment dropping nearly a full percentage point to 4.8 percent. Richardson County had a rate of 4.4 percent down 6-tenths; Johnson County down 2-tentsh to 3.4 percent. Gage County unemployment was down 3 tenths to 3.8 percent and Otoe County was down 6-tenths to 3.4 percent.
The national unemployment rate of 7.3 percent in October was up one-tenth of a percentage point. Nebraska’s preliminary rates in September and October were published simultaneously because of the federal government’s partial shutdown, which delayed the release of the September numbers.
