(MSC News)--Timed with the annual “Kansas Reads to Preschoolers” week, State Librarian Jo Budler will be the special guest Thursday at the Effingham Community Library.
She will lead storytime at 10:30, followed by a meeting with the public during a reception at noon.
During storytime, Budler will read the book selected for this year's commemoration, “Dog's Colorful Day” by Emma Dodd.
Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week is set aside each year to promote reading to children from birth through age 5.
Sponsored by the State Library of Kansas, the week is underway now thorugh Saturday.
Other local area libraries are also planning special readings of the book.
That includes the Morrill Public Library in Hiawatha where “Dog's Colorful Day” will be read twice Thursday, first in the morning at 10:00 and again in the afternoon at 3:45. It will also be read that evening between 5 and 7:00 at Hiawatha Thriftway.
