(KAIR)--Officials in St. Joseph had to place a local school on lock down for about a half hour as they searched for a wanted felon nearby Tuesday afternoon just after 3:00.
Bounty hunters had tried apprehending the man in the nearby Brittany Village apartment complex on North 36th St. However, the unidentified man, who has several felony warrants, escaped into a wooded area west of complex, which bordered the school. Police were then called in to assist in the search.
Seargent Todd Der with the St. Joseph police department says that the wooded area made it difficult to find the suspect, and that officials lost sight of him at some point. However, eventually he was taken into custody peacefully after K-9 units were called in from the Sheriff's department.
Police are not releasing the identity of the man, or what he was wanted for at this time.
