(KAIR)--There is a growing concern among farm families over who will take over the family farm once the older members retire or move on from actively working. Many dream of passing on the legacy to younger members of the family, but may not know how to do so.
According to the Newsleaf, an informational session on the topic of how to develop an estate plan for farmers will be presented by the K-State Research and Extension programs of Atchison county, Brown county, Doniphan county, and the Meadowlark Extension district on the morning of December 7th at 9:30 at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton.
Dr. Robert Hanson, from the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Forrest Buhler, staff attorney for the Kansas Law Association will be the two featured speakers at the event. Hanson, has counseled Nebraska farm families for over 30 years, helping them resolve family conflicts in positive ways.
If you are interested in attending this event, you can register at www.meadowlark.ksu.edu or at your local extension office. Cost of the event is $50 for the first person and $35 for each additional family member. Registration deadline is November 18th.
