(KAIR)--The sight and sound of the Salvation Army bells ringing in front of local retailers is a common site for many, but the organization's fund raising efforts do not end there. Abbi Carter with the Salvation Army says that the organization has other projects such as the adopt a family program, that need help as well. Toys are also needed because families that are not adopted, will be able to come to the Christmas store this year.
Carter explains that once sign ups for the adopt a family program are complete, they will ask those people to call in, and they will be set up with a family that needs their help. She says that those who volunteer to help, are able to choose the size of the family. Volunteers will also be given a date by which they need to bring their gifts for their family to the Salvation Army headquarters.
Sign ups for the adopt a family program are going on through 6:00 Tuesday evening. If you are interested in participating, you can contact Abbi by calling 367-1207.
