(KTNC) - Southeast Nebraska Community Partnership kicked off Money Smart Nebraska Week Monday with a bake sale at SENCA’s central office in Humboldt.
Money Smart Nebraska Week aims to help people become aware of ways to better manage their personal finances. It’s coordinated by the Nebraska Financial Education Coalition, which includes more than 100 organizations, including SENCA.
Monday’s bake sale brought in approximately $200 that will be used to help promote financial literacy in southeast Nebraska.
SENCA has several programs that promote self-sufficiency. They include SENCA SMART, a financial literacy program for 8th through 12th grade students. SENCA SMART will offer a six-hour adult financial literacy program in 2014 to coincide with the free income tax preparation.
SENCA also has classes for first time homebuyers, case management, and educational opportunities through Head Start pre-school.
