(KAIR)--Cell phone users in Atchison will soon have a new local choice for phones, accessories, and other technological toys.
Earlier this year, students at Benedictine College started voicing their concerns that there was very little Verizon cell phone coverage in the area. Verizon listened, and installed temporary transmission towers to meet the need. Now, those towers are permanent, and a new Verizon store will be opening in Atchison very soon.
Glenn Thomas is the owner of the new store, which will be opening at 121 S. 8th Street, says that until now, customers in Atchison had very little choice in coverage, and with this new store, they have more options than ever with Verizon providing 4G coverage to Atchison and the surrounding areas.
Thomas says they are shooting to have the new store open Saturday, but are awaiting a shipment of phones that could delay the opening until a later date.
