(KNZA)--The Kickapoo Tribe has been awarded a nearly $542,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction of a new community services facility.
The tribe made the announcement Friday.
The new facility will house the tribe’s social services, education, child welfare, and other community service and cultural departments. The facility will also house a new jobs services department that will assist tribal members with developing job skills and finding employment.
Tribal Chairman Steve Cadue says the new facility will allow the tribe to better serve its members and ensure that services can expand. Without the additional space, he says services to the tribal community have been limited.
