(KAIR)--A member of an Atchison city Public Works crew suffered serious injuries Wednesday while performing routine landscaping for the city.
According to a press release from the city, the accident happened just before 1:00 Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of 6th and Ravenhill when the employee stopped to perform maintenance on a chainsaw on the tailgate of a city truck parked on the shoulder. He was then struck from behind by another unmanned city vehicle, pinning him between the two vehicles.
Emergency crews responded and the employee, whose name hasn't been released, was flown to the KU Medical Center in Kansas City for further evaluation and treatment.
