Mound City School Enrollment Down Slightly, Board Says No to Football Co-op
(KLZA) -- The Mound City School district enrollment is down six students from last year with a K-12 enrollment of 259 students. There are another 19 pre-school students at Mound City.
Numbers were the deciding factor last week when the Mound City Board of Education decided against going forward at this time with a football cooperative with Craig and Fairfax school districts which already co-op their sports programs.
The Missouri High School Activities Association will now allow schools with 8-Man football teams to have three schools go together for a football co-op. Mound City Superintendent Ken Eaton explained Mound City will likely have their fewest number of football players in the next two coming years and that will be in the neighborhood of 20 players. After that it appears Mound City will have more participants and that based on the number, the Board felt right now is not the time to enter into a football co-op.
In other business during last weeks Mound City School Board meeting Family and Career Community Leaders and America officers Jordan Miller and Ashley Van Der Heide presented information on the Mound City program. Jordan Miller is President of the Mound City FCCLA chapter and is a Vice President in the State organization. She is spending part of this week in Washington D.C. attending a legislative forum and visiting with Missouri representatives and Senators.
