(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department quickly converged on the area of 3rd and Division Streets shortly before 5:00 Tuesday afternoon on what was thought to be a possible abduction of a six-year-old child.
According to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that what had occurred was a simple domestic incident and no abduction had taken place.
Wilson said the child in question was just the witness to an adult couple engaged in a dispute outside of a black, full sized, extended cab Dodge pickup truck. The male pulled the female into the vehicle and then sped off, headed northbound on third. The child informed a nearby adult who then contacted the police.
Police are still looking for the couple in question, as well as the truck, to make sure that no crime took place. Anyone with information in this case is encouraged to contact the Atchison police department.
