(KMZA)--A $55,000 grant has been awarded for renovation of a historic opera house in the Marshall County community of Waterville.
It was among nine grants worth about $350,000 announced Thursday by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission
The Waterville Opera House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1903. It’s currently used as a theater for community and school productions.
The grant funds will be used to make the building handicapped-accessible. New restrooms and an elevator will be installed.
It was the second round of grants from the commission this year, following eight grants for a total of $58,400 awarded in July.
