(KLZA) -- An Elk Creek, Nebraska man appeared in Nemaha County, Nebraska District Court Wednesday on 13 felony counts.
Thomas Adams faces eight counts of Sexual Assault of a Child in the First Degree, one count of Sexual Assault of a Child in the Third Degree and four counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person.
During the proceedings, the attorney office of Fankhauser, Nelsen, Werts, Ziskey and Merwin made a motion to withdraw as counsel due to a conflict of interest. The motion was granted by District Court Judge Daniel Bryan Jr. Judge Bryan then appointed the Nebraska Commission on Public Advocacy as attorney for the defendant.
The Court entered a "not guilty" plea on behalf of Adams and a jury trial was scheduled for December 9th.
The alleged offenses occurred in May of this year.
