Hiawatha Set to Begin Search for New Administrator

(KNZA)--The search is set to begin for a new Hiawatha city administrator.

The city commission this week approved a contract with the League of Kansas Municipalities to assist the city in filling the position for a base fee of $3,939. The city will responsible for all advertising expenses

Mike Koss with the League presented an advertisement for the position that was drafted based on a survey of commissioners to determine what they would like to see in a new city administrator. The position will be advertised in several governmental publications and governmental sites on-line. The commission approved an advertising budget of just over $1,100.

Beginning October 7th, League staff will review the applicants and then recommend several to the commission for interviews.

The position came open after the commission voted July 29th to terminate the contract with Lynne Ladner who had served as city administrator for just over seven years.

Mayor Crosby Gernon is serving as interim administrator.
