(KAIR)--Railroad crossing repair work will mean delays for Atchison motorists for most of the day on Saturday.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, both northbound and southbound U.S. Highway 73, from north of U.S. Highway 59 to K-9/Woodlawn Avenue, in Atchison, will be reduced to one lane for both directions. That's being done so that Union Pacific can repair the railroad crossing at that location. In recent weeks, the crossing has created a bumpy path for motorists who cross over it.
The work is scheduled to happen between 7:30 Saturday morning and 5:00 in the evening.
Traffic will be directed through the work zone by a pilot car and signage. Motorists are told to use alternate routes if possible.
