(KTNC) - There will be geographic changes for some Pawnee City Elementary School grades when the new school year begins next week.
Since the Pawnee City School Board decided to not pursue the facility improvement project this year, Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says the school board has taken steps to better match the size of elementary classes with the size of the classrooms. (play audio :32 “a little better.”)
The pre-school class, with 20 students, will be located in what was the second grade room. The fifth grade class, with 14 students, will move into the old pre-school room.
Other changes have the second grade in the former third grade room, the third grade in the old sixth grade room, and the sixth grade in the old fifth grade room. The Kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade classes will remain in the same rooms.
The first day of class for Pawnee City students is Wednesday, August 14, with a noon dismissal that day. The normal school day remains the same as last year, with classes beginning at 8:10 a.m. and dismissing at 3:40 p.m. Classes will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. on Fridays for staff development.
School lunch prices in Pawnee City are $2.30 for Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade and $2.50 for grades seven through 12. Breakfast costs $1.55 for all grades.
The Pawnee City School will host an open house at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13. Seventh grade orientation will be held at the same time. The “boot camp” for computer checkout will be held at 6:00 p.m. on August 13.
