(KLZA) Richardson County Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed Commissioners Tuesday the start date for construction of the Preston Road Project is Monday, August 12th.
The long awaited project to hard-surface the road is scheduled to be completed in October.
In other business this week Sheriff Randy Houser presented the Distress Warrant Return report for the 2011 distress warrants to be collected by the Board. A total of $24,075 was to be collected and $16,341 as collected by the Sheriff and remitted to the County Treasurer. Just over $7,700 remains uncollected.
Sheriff Houser also informed Commissioners the Advanced Correctional Healthcare program proposed to the Board earlier this summer would not be very beneficial for the Richardson County Jail at this time.
Bart Keller and Beckie Cromer represent Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise met with Commissioners requesting continued annual funding from Richardson County in the amount of $25,000. This year the County provided $20,000 in funding. The request will be considered by the Board.
Vicky McNealy, Executive Director of Southeast Nebraska Community Action and Pam Armknecht requested funding for the Richardson County Transit system and noted the need to change the current schedule. SENCA is considering going to a schedule of 8:30 a-m to 3 p-m Monday through Friday.
SENCA is also developing an advisory board to meet several times per year to review the program and offer suggestions to SENCA to improve the program.
