(KTNC) - Three Peru State College students earned first place at the recent Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, for their presentation on the college’s CHANCE Initiative.
The CHANCE – or Children’s Health, Activity and Nutrition Community Engagement – Initiative is a partnership between Peru State College, Auburn Public Schools, The Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and Auburn Family Health Center. It involves 14 weeks of activities and lessons focused on healthy living, with a goal to encourage healthier lifestyles among area children and their families.
Presenting the CHANCE Initiative at the National Conference were Allie Buesing, a freshman from Cozad, Rachel Henry, a sophomore from Auburn, and Jamie Theye, a senior from Odell.
They won first place in the Community Service category at the PBL National Conference.
Phi Beta Lambda is a state and national business and leadership association. The competition focused on a range of business and leadership-related tests, including financial analysis and economic concepts, human resource management, and business ethics.
In all, ten Peru State students placed in the top 10 at nationals in various categories.
