Former Atchison Resident Found Dead
07/19/2013

(KAIR)--Funeral services have been set for the former Atchison man whose body was recovered from the Kansas River late Wednesday morning.

A memorial service for 49-year-old Dwight Sexton will be held Tueday morning at 11 in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison.

Sexton is survived by his mother, Mary, of Atchison; a son, Brent; and three brothers.

Douglas County Sheriff's investigators don't suspect foul play in the death of Sexton. However, they can't yet say for certain how the one-time Atchison resident died. An autopsy was planned Thursday but the results are not yet known.

According to the Lawrence-Journal World, Sexton had become a familiar sight in the downtown business area of his adopted community of Lawrence, always accompanied by his Labrador Retriever, Gabby, with both considered regulars along Massachusetts Street. She will stay in the family, having now been adopted by Sexton's son, Brent, of Colorado.
