(KAIR)--The Board of Education for the Effingham based Atchison County Schools of USD 377 met Thursday evening, with the session beginning with the board's reorganization for the 2013-2014 school year.
Board President Brian Jolly was re-elected, while Jeff Martin was selected as Vice-President.
During the regular meeting of the board, a presentation was provided by Mark Frantz, representing HTK Architechts of Topeka and Overland Park, focused on planned construction that would be funded if voters approve a future bond issue.
Following the presentation, the School Board decided to hold off on passing a resolution to approve a bond referendum, which will, instead, likely happen at their July 25th meeting.
Superintendent Steve Wiseman says the reason for the board's decision to hold off on setting the bond resolution is due to the need to scale back current plans.
Patrons of USD 377, in a past survey, selected their choice for needed facilities.
Ultimately selected was the construction of a facility to house Preschool through 8th grade students, carrying an estimated pricetage of 16.7 million dollars.
However, that will likely not be the actual price once revisions to the project are finalized later this month.
