(KAIR)--Two locally based firefighters have been lending their assistance outside the local area.
Effingham residents Josh Smith and Logan Coder recently completed their role in battling the East Peak Fire in the San Isabel National Park just southwest of Pueblo, Colorado. Following their work in that area, the two were dispatched to provide aid to the Arizona Wildfire that claimed the life of 19 firefighters last week.
According to the Newsleaf, Smith and Coder are part of the Mid Plains Hand Crew stationed in Denver, Colorado, but originating from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Horton.
The Newsleaf reports that both men, and the rest of their 20 person crew, are safe, and are likely to return home to the local area later this week.
The East Peak Fire began June 19th and left an estimated near 14,000 acres devastated.
The Yarnell Hill Fire, northwest of Phoenix, Arizona, was sparked by lightning June 28th, destroying more than 100 homes while burning nearly 13 square miles.
