( KNZA )-Weather, both in word and in action, will be the focus of a special presentation planned at Holton's Banner Creek Science Center Monday evening.
Banner Creek Observatory Director Mike Ford says the evening will include both a conversation about weather, as well as the dedication of a new weather station at the observatory.
It will begin at 7:00 as 2009 Holton High School graduate Zach Elliott leads the discussion.
Elliott, a former student of Ford's, is also a 2013 graduate from the University Of Oklahoma School Of Meteorology, and will focus on on severe weather safety, common myths and misconceptions surrounding severe weather.
Ford says the talk, including a question and answer session, will be followed by the dedication of the new weather station, made possible through Elliott's efforts to gain donations for the purchase. It will allow weather monitoring to happen in Holton, instead of the current need to gain such data from outside locations, such as Topeka.
Monday's presentation will begin at 7:00 at the Banner Creek Science Center, located at 22275 N Road in rural Holton. The public is invited to attend, and directions can be found http://bcscience.org/
