( KNZA )--One person was killed and five others were injured in a head-on collision on K-20 Highway in Brown County early Wednesday morning, about 1 ½ miles east of U.S. 75 Highway.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Anna Hull of Fairview was traveling west when her car crossed the center line and struck an eastbound car driven by 18-year-old Iriss Whitebird of Horton head-on shortly after 2:15.
Hull was pronounced dead at the scene.
Whitebird and four passengers in her car were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. The passengers included 19-year-old Marlin Banks of Horton, 12-year-old Madison Thomas of Mayetta, 19-year-old Nadas Thomas of Mayetta and 13-year-old Tyran Banks of Horton.
The Patrol says none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
K-20 highway was shut down for about 5 hours following the accident while authorities worked the scene.
