Cultivate the Change with the Fifth Biennial Urban Grown Farms & Gardens Week of Celebration June 15 through June 23 in Kansas City! Urban Grown is a volunteer-led event hosted by Cultivate Kansas City to showcase how food is grown in the city. Activities begin Saturday June 15 with a Crop Mob volunteer event that will help urban farms throughout the metro area prepare for the coming farm tours.

The week will feature workshops speakers and other educational opportunities, while  farm-fresh bounty can be enjoyed at cooking demonstrations and local sponsoring restaurants.  

Eat Out Local: Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18 and 19,

sixteen farm to table restaurants will donate 10% of proceeds to Cultivate Kansas City. Eat good food, support great local establishments and support our work growing food, farms and community! Find a list of restaurants here.

Local Earth: Wednesday, June 19,

we're teaming up with BREAD! KC, PLUG Projects, City Ice Arts, Hawthorne & Julep, Dark Horse Distillery and Oddly Correct to bring you Local Earth, a celebration of art and food in our city. Learn more and reserve a seat for dinner here.

"The Future of Food" with Mark Bittman: Thursday, June 20 join New York Times columnist and acclaimed author, Mark Bittman, for the keynote address of Urban Grown week at Unity Temple on the Plaza at 7 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit here.   

 

The week long celebration culminates in a two-day, self-guided tour of 60 farms and gardens Saturday and Sunday June 22- and 23 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Many of the sites will feature music, chef cooking demonstrations, and children's activities. This year there will be a Tour Hub at the Ruiz Library in Kansas City, Mo. where tour goers can get tickets, tour guide booklets and other information. .
