(KTNC) - The National Weather Service office in Pleasant Hill has issued a flood warning for the Tarkio River at Fairfax, affecting Holt and Atchison Counties, until Monday afternoon.
At 5:15 Sunday monring, the river was at 16.4-feet. It was forecast to rise above the 17-foot flood stage Sunday morning, to near 17.5-feet before falling below flood stage again Sunday afternoon, causing minor flooding.
Motorists are reminded to not drive through flowing water. As little as six inches of water may cause you to lose control of your vehicle and two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
