(KTNC) - The Nemaha County Hospital celebrated its 50th anniversary with a ceremony on a cool and windy Saturday afternoon.
The hospital in Auburn first opened its doors on April 28, 1963.
A crowd gathered under the canopy of the hospital’s recently renovated front entrance for the ceremony. Lieutenant Governor Lavon Heidemann praised Nemaha County Hospital as a key link in healthcare in southeast Nebraska.
Auburn Mayor Scott Kudrna praised what he called the visionary leadership of the hospital, which recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation, and which operates without taxpayer funding. Mayor Kudrna also praised the hospital staff for their dedication, both in the hospital and in the community.
Other speakers Saturday included First District State Senator Dan Watermeier, Hospital CEO Marty Fattig, and Richard Moody of the Hospital Board of Directors.
Following the program, visitors enjoyed refreshments and tours of the hospital.
