(KLZA) Flood warnings continue for area rivers as the possibility of severe weather and heavy rains continue through the rest of the week.
The Missouri River at Rulo was at 18.8 feet at 9:30 this morning. Flood stage at Rulo is 17 feet. The National Weather Service predicts the river to rise to 19.6 feet by 1 a-m Thursday morning and then begin to falls below flood stage Sunday evening. Minor flooding is forecast along the river in the Rulo area.
The Missouri River reading at Brownville was 31.75 feet at 10:30 a-m this morning. Flood stage at Brownville is 33 feet. The predicted crest at Brownville is 35.1 feet by 1 p-m Thursday with the river falling back below flood stage by early Monday morning.
The Tarkio River in Atchison, County, Missouri reached 24.19 feet early this morning and has now dipped to 16.78 feet as of 11:15 a-m. That reading is just below the 17 foot flood stage.
The Tarkio is forecast to 14.44 feet by 1 a-m Thursday morning then climb back to 19.8 feet by 1 p-m Thursday afternoon.
Motorists are reminded to not drive through areas where water covers the road, as the water depth may be too great to allow a vehicle to pass safely.
