(MSC News) -- The Kansas Highway Patrol worked more DUI car crashes and more fatal crashes than last year over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
They worked three fatal crashes, all of which were alcohol related, compared to one crash last year, which was not alcohol related.
It was part of nine DUI related crashes worked, up from two last year.
However, DUI arrests were down from last year.
The “Click it or Ticket” program was also in full force, seeing a sizeable increase in adult seatbelt and child restraint citations from 2012.
Speeding was less of a factor in 2013 as both speeding citations and warnings were down from last year.
The reporting period for the holiday weekend ran from six Friday evening through 11:59 Monday night.
