(KMZA)--A truck driver, who formerly lived in the local area, and who is accused of providing an unlawful, out of state ride to a Sabetha teen, will appear in a Missouri courtroom later this month.
43-year-old Shane Snodgrass is accused of passing worthless checks in DeKalb County, Missouri, and faces two misdemeanor counts dating back to last year and one felony count arising from a bad check allegedly passed this year.
According to the office of DeKalb County Prosecuting Attorney Erik Tate, Snodgrass is set to appear in a county courtroom on the morning of April 30th to answer to the charges.
A plea, or trial date, is expected as the outcome of his appearance for the misdemeanor charges.
At the same time, a preliminary hearing is expected to be set in regards to the felony count.
Snodgrass, last December, became the focus of a search after Kristina Richey went missing from her Sabetha home. The teen had apparently arranged a ride with Snodgrass from Nebraska City to Oregon. She knew Snodgrass through a school acquaintance when the truck driver and his family lived in Morrill. It was in Oregon that the teen was found, safely staying at the home of Snodgrass where her former classmate lived.
She was returned to Sabetha and Snodgrass was charged with felony custodial interference. Failing to appear in a Linn County, Oregon courtroom on that charge, Snodgrass again disappeared until he was arrested last month in Minnesota, on a warrant for that charge as well as a Missouri warrant for the check charges.
