(KLZA) Southeast Nebraska followed the statewide trend in March with declining unemployment rates.
Statewide the March unemployment rate dropped three tenths of a percent to 3.9 percent. The unemployment rate was down in all of the counties making up extreme Southeast Nebraska.
Richardson and Gage counties had the biggest dips in unemployment for the month at six tenths of a percent for each county. In Richardson County the jobless rate for March was 4.9 percent and in Gage County the rate dipped to four percent.
Pawnee County continues to have the best unemployment rate in the area at three percent, that was down a tenth of a percentage point for the month.
Nemaha County, Nebraska has the highest unemployment rate in the region at 5.2 percent, which is down half a point from February. Johnson County had a dip of 2-tenths for the month to 4.3 percent. In Otoe County the unemployment rate for March was 4.2 percent, down from 4.6 percent in February.
North Dakota continues to lead the nation in unemployment percentage at just 3.3 percent. Nebraska ranks second at 3.9 percent, South Dakota is fourth at 4.3 percent, Iowa fifth at 4.9%; Kansas is 12th at 5.6%, Missouri 21st at 6.7 percent with Nevada brining up the rear with an unemployment rate in March of 9.7 percent.
