( KMZA )-Highland Community College continues to look into the establishment of a technical education center in Nemaha County.
The college has expressed interest in the B & B facility, if it becomes available, and is also looking at the former Medical Arts building in Seneca as possible locations for the satellite center.
Nemaha Central USD 115 is currently considering three options for the B & B Junior/Senior High School. One option would use all or part of the facility for a 6th-8th grade middle school. The other two options would close the building with students attending Seneca schools either all at once or by a gradual transition.
The Nemaha Central Board of Education is make a decision at a special meeting March 20th.
Each of the four districts in the School-Business Educational Consortium, except USD 115, has signed a memorandum of understanding with HCC. Students from those districts would participate in course work including Allied Health, Early Childhood Classes, Basic Maintenance Technology, Engineering Graphics, and a Precision Ag Lab.
HCC is seeking a grant to cover startup costs.
The college currently has regional centers in Atchison, Holton, Perry and Wamego.
