( KNZA )-Fire caused substantial damage to a Hiawatha laundromat Tuesday afternoon.
Hiawatha Fire Chief Bill Roland says firefighters were called to the Dirty Shorts Laundromat in the 400 block of Oregon Street around 12:40 p.m.
Roland says the fire began in a dryer and spread up a wall to the ceiling area.
He says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The laundromat is owned by Don Koontz.
Firefighters were on the scene about 90 minutes.
Assisting were the Hiawatha Police Department, Town and Country Ambulance Service and Brown County Rescue Squad.
