(KAIR) -- Citizens asked questions for 25 minutes for members of the Kansas Legislature that serve Atchison County, as well as Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins Saturday morning at the first legislative coffee of 2013 hosted by the Atchison Chamber of Commerce.
The main citizen interaction involved Congresswoman Jenkins, who is now a member of Republican Leadership as Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference, which includes Speaker John Boehner and Congressman Eric Cantor.
Jenkins main discussion centered around the recent actions in Washington on the budget.
She was asked about sequestration by soldier from Fort Leavenworth...( play audio )
He further adds that his organization is losing two work days for every two weeks, which will last until the end of the fiscal year, which equates to a 24 percent pay cut.

She also got a question on EPA mandates on combined sewer overflow from Atchison business owner Bill Murphy... (Audio Continues)
Jenkins says while cost benefit analysis legislation for the local level would likely not pass the current Senate, she was encouraged Murphy to potentially testify or provide written testimony to the House Oversight Committee.
