(KAIR) -- Republican U.S. Senator from Kansas, Jerry Moran, spoke about what he calls the “greatest responsibility facing elected officials in Washington” earlier this week: tackling the national debt and deficits.
His remarks were made at the weekly Senate Republican Leadership Press Conference – his first as Chairman of the National Senatorial Republican Committee.
He believes the first step toward righting America’s fiscal course is passing a budget and sticking to it.

The House passed a bill to suspend the debt ceiling until May on a vote of 285 to 144, with 33 Republicans voting no.
The House legislation included a provision that would withhold the pay of lawmakers in a chamber of Congress that fails to pass a budget blueprint by April 15.
