(KNZA)--As the old saying goes, “There's a new Sheriff in Town,” but, realistically, he's a familiar face in Doniphan County law enforcement who now steps into the top role of leadership.
Chad Clary, who served eight years as Undersheriff in the county, gained voter support in November to step into the Sheriff's position, after Jerry Dubach decided not to seek another term after 27-years.
Clary, sworn into office Monday, says he's pleased to begin his new role of leadership, and plans to maintain the respect for the office created by Dubach.
As he begins his term, Clary says his goal is to see the office better utilize modern technology in its battle against crime.
Clary, a resident of Highland, was sworn into office last week. It was around that same time that special recognition was given to his predecessor, whose oversight played a key role in bringing a new law enforcement center to the county.
Because of that accomplishment, the Doniphan County Commission last week
approved the placement of Dubach's name on the facility, honoring his 40 plus year of service to local law enforcement.
