( KNZA )-The Kickapoo Tribe has selected a new chief of police.
Tribal Chairman Steve Cadue announced Thursday that the Tribal Council has chosen Mike Dougherty as its next Chief of Police...( play audio )
Dougherty currently serves as chairman of the Sac and Fox Tribe and will relinquish that position to accept the position with the Kickapoo Tribe.
He previously served as chief of police for the Sac and Fox Tribe. Dougherty has been certified as a law enforcement officer since 1997.
Dougherty will begin work with the Kickapoo Tribe January 28th.
The Kickapoo Tribal Police Department provides law enforcement services on the tribe’s reservation located about 5 miles west of Horton.
