(KNZA)--The elderly man found dead Saturday in a Brown County field has been identified.
Sheriff John Merchant says the victim is 80-year-old Wisconsin resident George W. Baron, believed to have been traveling in the area to visit local casinos.
According to Wisconsin sources, that was a passion for Baron, who would occassionally pack his van and travel to such destinations across the nation.
A Wildlife and Parks officer reported, shortly before noon Saturday, that a vehicle had slid off the road between 300th and 310th on Redbud Road. It was found that the white, unoccupied van became stuck in the mud a few days earlier.
It's believed Baron tried to walk from the scene, but died as he made the attempt. There's no evidence of foul play.
A Sac and Fox Tribal Police Officer discovered Baron's body in a field immediately east of the van.
Merchant says the investigation is continuing.
