( KNZA )-The body of elderly man was discovered in a Brown County field Saturday not far from where his van had gotten stuck.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says the sheriff’s office was notified shortly before noon Saturday by a Wildlife and Parks officer of a vehicle that had slid off Redbud Road between 300th and 310th Roads.
Upon investigation, Merchant says it was determined that the vehicle had gotten stuck on the mud road a few days prior.
The van was not occupied and an officer with the Sac and Fox Tribal Police Department discovered the body of the elderly male in a field immediately east of the van.
Merchant says it appears that the driver and sole occupant attempted to walk for help and passed away.
He says the identity of the man, who was a resident several states away, is being withheld until family members are notified.
